Kogan Theatre Hub, London

Project Value: £0.25m
Client : Academy of the Science of Acting and Directing
Design Stage : C
2011

City Architecture Office was appointed to establish the feasibility of the development of the Archway Community Arts Theatre Hub in North London.

The proposal creates a new 200 seat flexible performance venue, bringing back in to use a 6,373sqft derelict industrial building.

In addition to this, a cafe and bar and lettable rooms offer affordable workspace for creative businesses.

The stage, seating, offices, ancillary rooms and services are carefully formed within the existing steel frame.

New spaces will be highly insulated, formed in timber to maximise sustainability. Other issues include acoustic treatment, fire safety and ventilation.

It will be the only dedicated community arts facility in Archway. The Arts Hub will provide an invaluable resource for a broad range of community groups and arts organisations acting as a key catalyst for a Creative Industries’ cluster.

Further opportunities include working closely with local schools and community groups to develop a local youth theatre and small catering school.
